With deejaying becoming a popular career choice amongst South African youth. In the late 90's one could only name a handful of djs who spinned at clubs.
Inspired by djs from the late 90's , Josias Matsebatlela aka DJ JOSI CHAVE started dj at the age of 14. The adrenalin , and excitement of making crowds of people go into a state of euphoria on the dance floor was enough drive to push him into DJ and Music Production.
Music is his life since the early 2000's being privileged to shadow many talented djs , music producers , sound engineers ,artists during their recording sessions. After Matric , He entered the world of broadcasting completing a Broadcasting Diploma in Radio. Seeing the rapid growth of djs and music producers , Josi Chave formed his record label in 2006 with the main objective to assist upcoming to get their music out. He released his 1st compilation in 2008 & a follow up in 2009. His music production talents featured on various other compilations such as , House of Flava , Kasi Jams , Mixwell Fistaz , DJ Zinhle Feminine Touch to name a few.
In 2010 he joined the YFM Family as an intern & Late 2010 became the Y Mag Publishing Manager , assisting young talent with music publishing. 2011 He joined the Saturday Dance show which was formerly Hosted by Oskido and Bobstar as one of the Co - hosts.
Josi Chave a firm believer in growing local talent , this illustrated in his latest compilation BLACK FREQUENCY , which is 100% locally produced .
Over the Years Josi Chave has shared decks with most prominent dj / artist in South Africa the likes of Black Coffee , Vinny Da Vinci , DJ Fresh , Euphonik , Ganyani and Oskido. Internationals such as Roland Clark , Pastaboys , Die Antwoord as well as T.J Cases and A - Jam. djying across all S.A Provinces including Neighbouring countries such as Lesotho and Swaziland.
